1. Overview
Recordock is a local-first Chrome screen recorder. It allows you to record a browser tab, application window, or monitor selected through Chrome's native screen-sharing interface.
Recordock does not require an account and does not operate a server that receives your recordings.
2. Information Recordock handles
Recordock handles the visual content of the browser tab, application window, or monitor that you explicitly select for recording.
When Screen audio is enabled and audio is available from the selected source, Recordock may also process that source audio.
Depending on the source you choose, a recording may contain website content, personal communications, personal information, user-generated content, or other information visible or audible within that source.
3. How recordings are used
Selected screen and audio content is used only to provide Recordock's recording, preview, and download functionality.
Recordock does not analyze recordings for advertising, profiling, marketing, or unrelated purposes.
4. Local processing and storage
Recording is performed locally inside Chrome using browser-provided screen-capture and media-recording capabilities.
Recordock may store recording-session metadata in Chrome extension storage so the popup can restore the current recording state.
The most recent recording may be stored locally in the extension's browser storage so that it can be previewed and downloaded after the popup is closed and reopened.
5. Data transmission
Recordock does not transmit screen recordings, captured audio, recording metadata, browsing activity, or personal information to the developer or to third-party servers.
The extension does not require a network connection for its core recording workflow.
6. Data sharing and selling
Recordock does not sell, rent, share, or transfer recording content or recording metadata to advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or other third parties.
The developer cannot view or access recordings that remain on your device.
7. Analytics and advertising
The Recordock extension does not include advertising, tracking pixels, behavioral analytics, or third-party analytics SDKs.
8. Permissions
Offscreen
The offscreen permission is used to run the browser's recording process outside the popup so a recording can continue after the popup closes.
Storage
The storage permission is used to preserve temporary recording-session information and restore the extension's state.
Recordock does not request general access to every website and does not declare host permissions.
9. Your choices and control
Chrome displays its native source picker before a recording begins. You control which browser tab, application window, or monitor Recordock can record.
You can cancel source selection, stop recording, choose whether available screen audio is requested, download the completed recording, clear Chrome extension data, or uninstall Recordock.
10. Data retention
Recordock does not retain recordings on developer servers because recordings are not uploaded.
Locally stored extension data remains under the control of your browser. The latest saved recording may remain available until it is replaced, extension data is cleared, or Recordock is uninstalled.
Downloaded WebM files remain wherever you choose to save them and must be deleted through your operating system when no longer needed.
11. Security
Recordock limits its Chrome permissions to the functionality required for local recording and state restoration. Recordings are not automatically uploaded or exposed through public sharing links.
12. Children's privacy
Recordock is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not specifically directed toward children. Recordock does not knowingly collect personal information through developer-operated servers.
13. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Recordock's features or data-handling practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when a revision is published.
